WMA to MP3 Converter |
WMA to MP3 Converter converts WMA to MP3 and vice versa. The software also converts WMV (Windows Media Video) to MP3 and ASF (Advanced Systems Format) to MP3. WMA can encode audio signals sampled at up to 48 kHz with up to two discrete channels (stereo). WMA 9 introduced variable bit rate (VBR) and average bit rate (ABR) coding techniques into the MS encoder although both were technically supported by the original format. WMA 9.1 also added support for low-delay audio, which reduces latency for encoding and decoding.
WMA to MP3 Converter supports ID3 tag, encodes MP3 as CBR (Constant Bit Rate) and VBR (Variable Bit Rate), and supports batch conversion. The software is easy to use, and is fully compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is WMA?
Windows Media Audio (WMA) is an audio data compression technology developed by Microsoft. The name can be used to refer to its audio file format or its audio codecs. It is a proprietary technology that forms part of the Windows Media framework. WMA consists of four distinct codecs. The original WMA codec, known simply as WMA, was conceived as a competitor to the popular MP3 and RealAudio codecs. WMA Pro, a newer and more advanced codec, supports multichannel and high resolution audio. A lossless codec, WMA Lossless, compresses audio data without loss of audio fidelity (the regular WMA format is lossy). WMA Voice, targeted at voice content, applies compression using a range of low bit rates. A WMA file is in most circumstances contained in the Advanced Systems Format (ASF), a proprietary Microsoft container format for digital audio or digital video. The ASF container format specifies how metadata about the file is to be encoded, similar to the ID3 tags used by MP3 files. Metadata may include song name, track number, artist name, and also audio normalization values. This container can optionally support digital rights management (DRM) using a combination of elliptic curve cryptography key exchange, DES block cipher, a custom block cipher, RC4 stream cipher and the SHA-1 hashing function. See Windows Media DRM for further information.
What is MP3?
MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III, more commonly referred to as MP3, is an audio coding format for digital audio which uses a form of lossy data compression. MP3 files are the most commonly distributed audio files in the world. The MP3 file format allows an audio file to be reduced in size, making it easier to download the file from the Internet and store it on a portable media device. The MP3 file format is commonly used to store and play audio files on MP3 players, iPods and cellular phones. The audio files that are saved in MP3 format are compressed. When recording audio data to a standard CD, one minute of data will take up approximately 10 MB of disc space. With an MP3 file, however, one minute of audio will only take up 1 MB of space. While there is some loss in quality of sound when recording MP3 files, it is usually not noticeable to the average listener. The MPEG-1 standard does not include a precise specification for an MP3 encoder, but does provide example psychoacoustic models, rate loop, and the like in the non-normative part of the original standard. At present, these suggested implementations are quite dated. Implementers of the standard were supposed to devise their own algorithms suitable for removing parts of the information from the audio input. As a result, there are many different MP3 encoders available, each producing files of differing quality. Comparisons are widely available, so it is easy for a prospective user of an encoder to research the best choice. An encoder that is proficient at encoding at higher bit rates (such as LAME) is not necessarily as good at lower bit rates.
Click "Add Files" to choose WMA files and then add them to conversion list.
Choose one or more WMA files you want to convert and then click Open.
Click on "Convert" to convert WMA files to MP3 format; alternatively, click on "Convert to One" to convert all files in list and combine to a single one MP3 file.
