How it works

USB Network Gate

Share USB devices via Ethernet among multiple computers so people around the globe can access them.

From any part of the world

Share USB over IP network

USB Network Gate offers a number of handy features that make sharing USB over Ethernet an easy and quick process. Now any user can print, scan, access USB license dongles and USB hubs over Ethernet from any computer in your office, no matter how big it is and how many floors it occupies.

  • Shared access
  • Traffic Compression
  • Secure connection
  • Standard network configuration

USB over Ethernet data traffic optimization

With USB to Ethernet Connector traffic compression option, you can drastically improve transfer speed and bandwidth utilization. This option will be especially useful in conjunction with the devices that tend to transfer data uncompressed.

Share USB over Wi-Fi safely

The most valuable resource in the modern world is information, and our USB over IP software will make sure that no third party will gain access to yours. Highly secured connection standards are provided by the embedded traffic encryption option. Moreover, you can add a password to control remote user access.

Turn your computer into a USB server

There is no need to reboot your computer or restart USB Network Gate every time you need to share another device. Just unplug the currently shared USB device and plug in another one, it's that simple! A new device will automatically appear on the remote client, thanks to the fact that the application shares a USB port over the network, not just a connected device.

Remote Desktop Protocol

Share USB over RDP

The common problem you may face when using Remote Desktop Connection is that you are unable to access local USB devices. USB Network Gate allows you to work with any local USB devices even while in a remote session. Moreover, you can set your remote machine to automatically detect and connect to shared USB devices momentarily, as if you just plugged the device in a remote machine physically.

Citrix ICA protocol support

In case you do not use Microsoft RDP or a client computer runs the operating system other than Windows, then fear not: USB device redirection can be done via Citrix ICA protocol. USB Network Gate natively supports Citrix ICA since version 7.0.

RemoteFX USB redirection support

USB Network Gate supports native RemoteFX USB Redirection (MS-RDPEUSB), allowing you to redirect shared devices from your local Linux computer to a remote Windows client without installing USB Network Gate on the latter. Note that shared USB devices have to be supported by RemoteFX USB Redirection. Otherwise, you'll need to install USB Network Gate on Windows client.

Virtualization

Access remote USB devices in virtual environment

  • VMware Workstation
  •
  • VMware ESX
  • Citrix XenDesktop
  • Microsoft Hyper-V

In case you need to forward a USB device or would like to access a remote USB device from a virtual machine, this task can be easily accomplished with USB Network Gate. Just by installing the software onto the host machine and client, you can share USB over Ethernet and access the device in the virtual session.

Isolation NEW

Overhauled and improved USB device isolation

One of the inconvenient features of Windows is that every connected USB device is available to all users by default. Given that Windows does not provide enough tools to control access to a particular device by a particular user, this can pose a serious problem when there are a lot of users working at the same Windows PC or at the terminal server that hosts a large number of Remote Desktop sessions. Luckily, USB Network Gate provides a unique device isolation feature which can solve that issue:

Per-session isolation

Enabling this option makes it so a USB device is assigned to a specific user in their remote desktop session and is invisible to others. Now you can be safe that your USB device will not be occupied by other RDP sessions.

Per-user isolation

This option allows isolating a connected USB device from other Windows users. It will be useful when there is the constant switching between the accounts but you would like to keep a particular USB device exclusive to only one account.

Note: USB device isolation was tested with cameras, printers, scanners, hard drives, 3D mouses, sound cards and other devices. USB device isolation is supported by Windows 8 and newer and by all Windows Server versions.

Share USB over Ethernet among multiple platforms

USB Network Gate for Desktop is a unique multi-platform solution that can share USB devices over IP on Windows, Mac or Linux computers.

Devices supported by USB to Ethernet Connector

USB Network Gate easily shares various types of USB devices over the network in just a couple of clicks:

  • Equipment
  • Data Input/Output
  • Communication

Share webcam over LAN

USB Network Gate allows sharing a webcam connected to your computer and receiving the video stream on the remote machine. For best performance, it is recommended to have a high-speed network due to the amount of bandwidth required for transferring video data.

Share printer over the network

With USB Network Gate you can convert USB printer to Ethernet and do a print job remotely from any location in just a couple of clicks.

iPhone remote access

USB Network Gate allows remote access to iPhones and other iOS devices by sharing these USB devices through Ethernet. You can use it as a way to sync your iPhone over the network with a remote machine.

About sharing USB devices over Ethernet with USB Network Gate

If USB over the Internet cannot be shared, can USB Network Gate function in a local network?

When the Internet connection is not available, USB Network Gate can share USB over LAN.

Can a number of computers access the same shared device at the same time?

Only a single system will be able to use the device at a time since simultaneous access to remote USB ports is not technically possible.

Which computer is considered a server and which one a client?

The server is the computer where the USB device being shared is attached physically; the computer that connects to the device remotely is the client.

Is USB Network Gate a truly cross-platform solution?

There is USB Network Gate for Windows, Mac, and Linux that you can install on each participating device or computer. This way you can create any server-client combination you require, e.g. you can share USB over IP on Mac and connect it on Windows PC and vice versa.

Use licensed software anywhere

I was on the business trip abroad and had to use a piece of software, which was secured with the Sentinel HASP HL dongle, that I left in my office, unfortunately for me. My colleague has advised me to try USB Network Gate to share USB over TCP/IP and connect the dongle remotely. To my surprise, everything went even more smoothly than I anticipated, and the software successfully recognized the dongle, which was miles away from me.

Reduce the number of wires

With the help of USB Network Gate, I managed to turn my Samsung Android smartphone into a sort of USB to Ethernet server! I just had to install the app onto my phone, plugged my DSLR camera into its USB port, shared the device with my computer over Wi-Fi, and voila, it showed up on my desktop computer.

Access USB devices from anywhere

Not having access to my Mac machine during the debugging of the native iOS app made me look in the direction of cloud Mac machine. But the main question was how to access an iPhone attached to my Windows 10 PC from the cloud? That is when I came across USB Network Gate, which helped me to extend USB over Ethernet and connect the phone.

Multi-platform solution

We were looking for a reliable USB server software with a trial to access and share various USB devices between Windows and Linux (and in some cases even Mac) computers. As it turned out, USB Network Gate is the only solution of that kind that could meet our criteria.
