OCR Font Advantage Package

OCR Font Package Features

OCR program fonts are used for several purposes where automated systems need a standard character shape defined to properly read text without the use of barcodes. Some examples of OCR program font implementations include bank checks, passports, serial labels and postal mail. IDAutomation's OCR Font Advantage Package includes OCR software fonts in several formats that support the following implementations.

Industry Standard Support:

ANSI & ISO Specifications are supported in the OCR-a and OCR-b character sets, and contain upper case and lower case letters, numbers, and several special characters including the Euro symbol.

•ANSI Sizes 1, 3 and 4 are provided for each OCR font.

•Adjustable Spacing is enabled by changing the  OCR font point size. Setting the IDAutomationOCRa font to 9.10 points, for example, will allow it to print slightly wider.

OCR-a Support:

OCR-a Compatibility with ANSI X3.17 and IS0 1073/I is provided. The OCR-a program fonts were created according to ANSI INCITS 17-1981 (R2002) (formerly ANSI X3.17-1981 (R2000).

•USPS Compatibility is achieved by using the 9pt IDAutomationOCRa font.

•OCR-a1 Euro Banking and German bank checks may be printed with the OCR-a program font which includes special symbols such as the Chair, Fork, Hook and Euro for printing European bank checks.   The size 1 IDAutomationOCRa font (cheque schriften) should be used to print German bank checks.

OCR-b Support:

OCR-b Compatibility is achieved across current specifications with the curved-end font design. The OCR-b software fonts were created from ANSI INCITS 49-1975 (R2002), formerly ANSI X3.49-1975 (R2000) in agreement with the revised IS0 R 1073 standard.

•ECMA-11 is compatible with letterpress fonts that have straight ends. The curved ends and constant stroke widths of IDAutomation's OCR-b fonts allow for significant print quality deterioration while still maintaining OCR readability.

•OCR-b1 Euro Banking support is achieved with the 9-pt IDAutomationOCRb font and supports the OCR-b1 Euro banking standard character set which includes the numbers 0 - 9, some uppercase letters and a range of special characters (< > + - / # * | . , ").

•Norwegian Bank Checks may be printed with the 9pt IDAutomationOCRb font. The IDAutomationOCRb font has been accepted by BBS (Norwegian banks payment centre) for use on bank checks in Norway.

Multiple Formats Provided:

IDAutomation's OCR Font Advantage Package software includes TrueType, OpenType, several PCL versions and PostScript versions of the OCR fonts. PostScript OCR fonts may be used for Unix systems and may be downloaded directly to PostScript printers. Binary and ASCII versions of PostScript are also provided. TrueType OCR fonts are supplied in Windows and Mac format and are compatible with Mac OS X and all versions of Microsoft Windows, including Windows 7, 8 and 10. There are a variety of other IDAutomation font types and versions included as well.

Included with the purchase of a Developer License:

•Full OCR PDF Embedding Support enables embedding in PDF applications such as Adobe Writer, Distiller, PDF Lib and FOP TTF Reader as well as custom  dynamic internet font embedding for web pages, with the purchase of a Developer License.

•The Developer License grants the right to convert IDAutomation fonts to other formats as necessary including TrueDoc and OpenType.

Font Names Used Prior to July, 2003
