PRTG 21.4.72 with AWS Alarm v2 sensor and various fixes & improvements

Compared to the last releases of PRTG Network Monitor, this update does not contain many new sensors, but features several fixes and improvements. It comes with the experimental AWS Alarm v2 sensor and security improvements for SQL v2 sensors.

What's new in release 21.4.72?

• You can add an experimental AWS Alarm v2 sensor, which monitors the status of metric and composite AWS alarms
• Improvement of the parameter handling of the sensor types ADO SQL v2, Microsoft SQL v2, MySQL v2, PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL v2, and Oracle Tablespace to prevent external tools from logging them.
• Various fixes and improvements for all parts of PRTG

EXPERIMENTAL: AWS Alarm v2 sensor

This experimental sensor monitors metric and composite AWS alarms by reading the data from Amazon CloudWatch. It will be the successor of the existing Amazon CloudWatch Alarm sensor.

Improvements

Additional to the new experimental AWS Alarm v2 sensor, PRTG 21.4.72 includes improved parameter handling for SQL v2 database sensors to hide their credentials everywhere. We already released this security mechanism in previous versions for VMware and NetApp sensors, and as an experimental feature for custom PowerShell sensors.

Our developers also implemented improvements for various experimental sensors to get them ready for a full release in the near future. For this release, we focused on the AWS RDS v2 sensor and HPE 3PAR sensors. The HPE 3PAR Virtual Volume sensor, for example, got five additional channels to support our customers with an even closer monitoring of the virtual volumes on their HPE 3PAR storage systems.
