SECURITY UPDATE - Netop Remote Control 12.84 for Windows available on January 28, 2021

This release addresses a vulnerability in the MSI repair process of the Netop Remote Control Windows installer which may allow an attacker to elevate permissions inappropriately or disrupt the availability of installed programs.

Exploiting this vulnerability requires a high degree of technical proficiency and we have no reports of a successful exploit outside a test environment. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend all users upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible.

The vulnerability being addressed is present in prior versions of Netop Remote Control and affects Windows versions of Guest, Host, Gateway, and Security Server modules.

Netop Remote Control 12.84 is available to all users with a valid 12.80 license key. Customers who are currently enrolled in the Netop Advantage annual support and upgrade plan, including those with a subscription to Netop Remote Control, are eligible to update their software.
