Capture, explore, gain understanding of ideas
Overview
Discover how Decision Explorer® can help give you a clear picture of your ideas
Decision Explorer® is a proven tool for managing “soft” issues – the qualitative information that surrounds complex or uncertain situations. It allows you to capture in detail thoughts and ideas, to explore them, and gain new understanding and insight. The result is a fresh perspective, and time saved through increased productivity, release of creativity and a better focus. Decision Explorer® has been developed by academics at the universities of Bath and Strathclyde and now by Banxia Software, in conjunction with major organisations. This innovative tool now has hundreds of major international users.
Now available – Decision Explorer Connect™
Add advanced control to your meetings with Decision Explorer Connect™ our new meeting tool.
Self-adhesive Ovals available
You can now purchase yellow ovals made specially from Post-It® paper for use in group meetings where you want to start your Decision Explorer® mapping with a paper based oval mapping session. By using ovals with a group, you overcome the natural tendency to “think rigidly” which emerges when working with rectangular media. Available in packs of 1, 10 or 50 pads (with 50 sheets per pad).
Features
Mapping Techniques
The flexibility of Decision Explorer® allows it to support many mapping techniques for use both by a single user, and in group work (as a Group Decision Support System – GDSS). The supplied user guides give instructions on a specific mapping technique. However, it is not necessary to use this to achieve results – the most important factor is that your chosen technique is applied consistently.
Although mapping will not always give you instant answers, as the model of the issue is built up the key factors soon become apparent, and you can then explore the potential solutions. Decision Explorer® maps are not static pages, but dynamic views of a much larger model. You won’t reach the limits of any page size, and you can keep working with and adding to a model over time.
Key Analysis Functions
Decision Explorer® provides many facilities to help you analyse the maps that you build. They include:
Band – Shows influences of a concept.
Central – Finds concepts that have great influence.
Cluster – Shows groups of closely linked concepts.
Collapse – Reduces the model, maintaining links, to provide an overview.
Domain – Shows concepts which have many links.
Hieset – Shows hierarchy in a model.
Loop – Locates loops of influence.
Potent – Locates concepts that most influence outcomes.
Focus – Reduces the model, removing links, to focus on an issue.
Interface features
Decision Explorer® has a range of facilities to make it very user-friendly with better presentation of maps. The features include:
